Statement from the chair

Read a statement from the chair of the Latin America Subcommittee, Jessica Colon-Franco, PhD

Dr. Jessica M. Colón‑Franco is the Laboratory Services Director at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatric Pathology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She oversees laboratory send-out testing, central processing, and laboratory stewardship initiatives, and serves as Director of the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory.

Previously, Dr. Colón‑Franco held leadership roles at Cleveland Clinic, including Medical Director of the Special Chemistry and Blood Gas Laboratories and Section Head of Clinical Biochemistry, and served as adjunct faculty at Cleveland State University. Dr. Colón‑Franco completed fellowship training in Clinical Chemistry at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Clinical Chemistry, a Fellow of the ADLM Academy, and an active leader within ADLM. Her professional interests include pediatric medicine, laboratory stewardship, acute care testing, endocrinology, therapeutic drug monitoring and toxicology, mass spectrometry, and neurological and inflammatory biomarkers.
