New AACC Policy Report on Childrens Health Presents Case for Laboratory Medicine

AACC recently released its second policy report, Advancing Children’s Health through Pediatric Laboratory Medicine: The Unique Healthcare Needs of Children, which describes the role of laboratory professionals in providing care to children.  AACC will use this document, along with the 2015 report “Laboratory Medicine: Advancing Quality in Patient Care,” to support its advocacy efforts.  Children’s health is one of four advocacy priority areas for AACC, the other three being harmonization, laboratory-developed tests, and reimbursement and the changing healthcare environment. The new report focuses on four key areas: public health and prevention, newborn screening, childhood illnesses, and pediatric reference intervals.
