This award is given each year to the Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine’s (ADLM, formerly AACC) immediate past president to honor his or her important contributions to the field of clinical laboratory science throughout his or her career and to acknowledge the recipient's many contributions to ADLM.

Although historical records do not indicate when the award originated, ADLM’s Past Presidents and the year in which they served as ADLM President, are listed below.

Octavia Peck Palmer 2025Octavia Peck Palmer, PhD, FADLM

Dr. Peck Palmer has been an active member of ADLM for the past 16 years. She is currently the Vice Chair of Health Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion and an Associate Professor of Pathology, with secondary appointments in Critical Care Medicine and Clinical and Translational Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Peck Palmer is the Division Director of Clinical Chemistry and medical director of the Presbyterian and Shadyside hospitals, Automated Testing Laboratories (ATL), and their respective Reference Send out lab sections and three STAT labs (CLIA license holder) at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). In both her academic and clinical roles, she teaches and mentors (undergraduate, graduate, and medical students, residents, and fellows), conducts externally funded translational science research (infectious disease/sepsis and laboratory diagnostics and quality), and provides technical expertise and clinical consultation to the healthcare system to ensure accurate and timely patient test results and regulatory compliance.
