AACC Supports Legislation to Address Healthcare Workforce Shortages

On April 25, AACC along with other medical and public health laboratory workforce and healthcare organizations sent a joint letter to key members of Congress on the Senate Health Educations, Labor Pensions (HELP) and House Energy & Commerce Committees regarding healthcare workforce shortages and Congress' ongoing efforts to reauthorize the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Act.

The coalition represents approximately 350,000 essential laboratory professionals and pathologists and is urging Congress to prioritize policy addressing the medical and public health laboratory workforce shortages exacerbated by the pandemic, leading to many medical and public health laboratories operating at or near crisis levels. This situation could undermine the ability of these laboratories to provide timely test results, impacting both public health and patient access to quality care.

The association remains committed to advocating for policy that addresses workforce shortages and will continue to press these issues on behalf of the laboratory community.
