An AACC-led ad hoc coalition that includes 16 healthcare associations, IVD manufacturers and clinical laboratories (see box below) wrote to House and Senate leaders urging that report language promoting the harmonization of clinical laboratory test results be included in any funding package for next year. Earlier this summer, the House Appropriations Committee adopted AACC backed language directing the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to outline its harmonization efforts in next years’ budget. This language is a key step in AACC’s efforts to obtain federal appropriations for CDC’s efforts. AACC will hold a congressional briefing on harmonization for Hill staffers in early October. See the next issue of Lab Advocate for more details.
