AACC Submits Payment Recommendations at CMS Annual Lab Meeting

On June 23rd, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) held its annual meeting to gather public input on the new CPT codes and to reconsider past agency recommendations. More than 30 groups, including AACC provided feedback to the agency. The association and the other major laboratory groups, such as the American Clinical Laboratory Association, were unified in their recommendations the reconsidered codes that initially came up for comment in 2021.

The Medicare Advisory Panel on Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory Tests, which advises CMS on issues related to the payment and coverage for clinical diagnostic laboratory tests was present to hear stakeholders’ comments and ask questions when warranted. The panel will work with CMS to make the preliminary payment rate determinations which will be published in September. AACC will review proposed recommendations and provide additional comments if warranted. Final determinations will be published by the agency in November.
