ADLM joins call to reject harmful HHS budget cuts

On April 25, ADLM joined over 530 national organizations in a coalition letter urging Congress to reject the Trump Administration’s proposed FY 2026 budget for the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), which would slash discretionary spending by nearly one-third. The coalition warned that the proposed cuts would devastate critical programs across HHS agencies—including the NIH, CDC, FDA, HRSA, SAMHSA, IHS, and AHRQ—placing the nation’s public health, research infrastructure, and health care system at significant risk.

The letter emphasized that these agencies work together to conduct and apply scientific research, train the health workforce, respond to health crises, and ensure the delivery of lifesaving treatments and services to millions of Americans. The letter emphasizes that undermining these programs and agencies would significantly impair national efforts to address chronic illness, mental health, infectious disease, health equity, and public health preparedness.

ADLM is continuing to support efforts across the healthcare community to advocate and promote sustained federal investment in the agencies and programs that protect public health and fuel innovation, and urges Congress to maintain robust funding for HHS in FY 2026.
