CDC Convenes Stakeholders on Improving Hepatitis C Testing

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has announced a two-day convening hosted by the Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) to explore strategies for accelerating diagnosis and treatment of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. The meeting will take place virtually on September 16–17, 2025, and will bring together leaders from public health, laboratory medicine, academia, and industry to provide individual input on advancing same-day diagnosis and viral-first testing approaches.

Public participation is encouraged through written comments to Docket No. CDC–2025–0321, due by September 24, 2025. The agenda includes:

  • Day 1: The role of point-of-care testing in same-day HCV diagnosis and rapid treatment initiation.
  • Day 2: The utility of viral-first testing strategies for accelerating diagnosis and treatment.
