Description

Laboratories are required by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA) regulations to have quality control processes to monitor the accuracy and precision of their testing process. The Individualized Quality Control Plan (ICQP) allows labs to customize a QC process for their specific testing environment and patient needs. This webinar will review the elements of an IQCP and discuss best practices in developing IQCP with a focus on microbiology testing. IQCP examples for antimicrobial susceptibility testing, microbial identification systems, multiplex molecular assays will be covered.

Target audience

This activity is designed for lab supervisors, lab directors (and/or assistant directors), lab managers (supervisory and/or non-supervisory), and point-of-care coordinators.

Learning objectives

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the components of an IQCP.
  • Discuss potential laboratory management benefits and challenges to implementation of IQCP.
  • Identify eligible tests and best practices for designing IQCP for microbiology testing.
