Dr. Eros Qama
Dr. Eros Qama is a third-year pathology resident in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He co-developed a state-of-the-art flow cytometry crossmatch protocol at Montefiore Medical Center, significantly improving organ transplant compatibility assessments. Dr. Qama is also advancing diagnostic methodologies by developing a novel technique to evaluate platelet disorders using violet laser-equipped flow cytometry, aiming to exceed the accuracy and efficiency of traditional electron microscopy. In collaboration with his mentor, Dr. Kayode Balogun, co-director of the Clinical Chemistry Laboratory and director of the Endocrine and Immunology Laboratory at Einstein/Montefiore, he conducts impactful research on neurodevelopmental disorders and hyperlipidemia in HIV-exposed uninfected children, focusing on the long-term health effects of prenatal antiretroviral therapy.
