Ann Gronowski PhD, Dr. Gronowski is a professor in the department of pathology and immunology and the department of obstetrics and gynecology at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. She is associate medical director of the clinical chemistry, serology, and immunology laboratories at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Dr. Gronowski received her Ph.D. in Endocrinology-Reproductive Physiology from University of Wisconsin, and completed her Clinical Chemistry fellowship at Washington University. Gronowski has received numerous awards including AACC’s “Award for Outstanding Contributions to Clinical Chemistry in a Selected Area of Research” in 2020. Her research focuses primarily on the laboratory diagnostics of endocrinology and reproductive physiology with a particular emphasis on human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). Dr. Gronowski’s research on hCG has elucidated the causes of both false positive and false negative pregnancy tests which can significantly impact patient care.
